Electromagnetic Flow Meter Solution for Cooling Water in HVAC Systems

In the Power & Energy sector, cooling water plays a vital role in keeping HVAC systems running efficiently. Whether in industrial plants, office buildings, or energy facilities, precise flow control is the key to stable performance, lower energy bills, and less downtime.

One of our customers in Costa Rica faced this exact challenge in their HVAC cooling water loop. They needed a reliable flow meter for a DN40 pipeline, where accurate measurement was critical for balancing circulation and avoiding unnecessary energy loss. After evaluating different options, they chose our electromagnetic flow meter as the best fit.

At first, the unit was configured with a LoRaWAN remote communication module, designed for wireless data integration with their building management system. In the end, the customer decided not to activate the wireless function and kept the meter running in a local display + standard signal mode. Even in this simplified setup, the flow meter provided everything they needed: real-time data, stable operation, and no pressure drop in the system.

For cooling water treatment, this matters a lot. The meter’s full-bore, obstruction-free design ensures long-term reliability with almost zero maintenance. Its compact size and corrosion-resistant lining make installation straightforward, even in tight utility rooms. Most importantly, the customer quickly noticed better control over their cooling cycle and more confidence in system efficiency.

This case shows that in HVAC and cooling water applications, an electromagnetic flow meter does not need to be complex to deliver real value. Whether used with IoT connectivity or in simple local mode, it gives operators exactly what they need: accurate, durable, and cost-effective flow measurement.
